Public Meeting: Addressing Owl Deaths from Rodenticide Poisoning

Join us for an important public meeting on October 20th, 2025 to discuss solutions to owl deaths from secondary rodenticide poisoning and improved environmental hygiene practices.

Public Meeting: Addressing Owl Deaths from Rodenticide Poisoning

The Keurboom Park Association invites you to an important public meeting to address a critical conservation issue affecting our local owl population.

The Issue

Our community has been experiencing a serious problem: owl deaths caused by secondary rodenticide poisoning. When owls prey on rodents that have consumed rodenticides, they are exposed to these toxic chemicals, often with fatal consequences. This secondary poisoning threatens our local owl populations and disrupts the natural balance of our ecosystem.

Meeting Purpose

This gathering will provide an opportunity for:

  • Information Exchange: Learn about the current situation and the impact of rodenticide poisoning on our owl population
  • Discussion of Solutions: Explore alternative approaches to rodent control that protect wildlife
  • Community Input: Share your concerns and contribute to finding sustainable solutions
  • Future Planning: Discuss improved management of environmental hygiene and implementation of non-toxic rat control methods

Why Your Participation Matters

Owls are vital predators in our urban ecosystem, helping to naturally control rodent populations. By working together to find safer alternatives to toxic rodenticides, we can protect these magnificent birds while maintaining effective pest management.

Your voice and participation are crucial in developing practical, community-supported solutions that will benefit both wildlife and residents.

Get Involved

We encourage all community members, residents, and stakeholders to attend this important meeting. Together, we can make a difference in protecting our local owl population and improving environmental health practices in our neighbourhood.
